Armstrong concedes Contador may be too good
Lance Armstrong said he will take on the Tour de France this year as a better cyclist but is unsure if he can close the gap on reigning champion Alberto Contador.
The seven-times Tour winner returned to competition last year and finished third behind Spaniard Contador in Paris, but suffered a troubled relationship with his then Astana team mate. Armstrong is back in action with a new US-funded team Radioshack for 2010.
"Last year I was more about brute force, this year I feel it is more cycling power," Armstrong said in an interview with Spanish daily El Pais on Monday.
"I'm a better cyclist now. I feel more comfortable in the peloton. Last year, at the start, I was nervous, fearful, at the back, and that's why I fell in Palencia."
But he tried to steer clear of stirring up the controversy between himself and Contador again.
"He (Contador) is highly strung, which isn't a bad thing. So am I. All the great champions are like this, they all have a bit of insecurity in their lives, and feel they have to compensate," Armstrong added.
"I don't think it was Alberto more the people around him. Alberto isn't stupid. He's an intelligent person. He will continue to improve and gain experience in everything."
As to his chances in the Tour, Armstrong recognised it would be tough for a 38-year-old to beat someone who was still only 27.
"It doesn't look to be in my favour...(but) we'll go to the race and see who is best," Armstrong said.
"It isn't essential (for me to win). I don't need to especially, other than to reward all the hard work. There is no difference between winning seven or eight.
"The next Tour will be a great story, the rivalry with Contador, what happened last year...This is good for the Tour but it won't change my life whether I win or not."

Opet Kontador, ovo vec postaje dosadno.

Giro d'Italia - Ricco's team miss out on Giro
Riccardo Ricco's new Ceramica Flaminia outfit have missed out on being one of the 22 teams invited to compete in May's Giro d'Italia.
The Italian, banned for doping during the 2008 Tour de France, will return from suspension on Tuesday in the Settimana Coppi and Bartali race but looks poised to miss the Giro unless one of the invited teams pulls out.
Carmiooro-Ngc and Isd Neri were other notable absentees from the Giro list while Lance Armstrong's RadioShack will not be competing in the world's second biggest stage race having asked not to be considered.

u drugom redu Sastre i Pellizotti
...
a sta cu onda....navijacu za Garzellija ...valjda ce on doci

Garzelli sigurno ucestvuje.

Cavendish ends winless drought
British sprinter Mark Cavendish ended a six-month wait for a victory after surging clear of a bunch sprint finish to win the second stage of the Tour of Catalunya.
The HTC-Columbia rider took victory after clearly outpacing second-placed Argentine Juan Jose Haedo and third-placed Spaniard Aitor Galdos in Banyoles.
The winner of 24 races in 2009, including six stages of the Tour de France, Cavendish's victory was his first since the second stage of the Tour of Missouri on September 8.
"More than relieved I feel proud to be winning here because it shows the team never lost confidence in me," Cavendish said.
"We've got a young team here in Catalunya and it could have been difficult for them to commit themselves.
"Instead of that they gave it 100 per cent, never lost faith in me and that fills me with a sense of pride and gratitude."
Cavendish pointed out that he had enjoyed six wins, including the Milan-San Remo Classic, by this point in 2009.
However, the 24-year-old was forced to delay this season's race start by two weeks after his pre-season training was wrecked by illness caused by a badly infected tooth.
"This time the year began badly and not to have won anything has been frustrating," he added.
"I could have won a stage in the Tirreno-Adriatico and then I had bad luck in Milan-San Remo this year. But gradually things have got better and today I got the win."
Germany's Paul Voss remains the overall leader after his surprise win in Monday's opening time-trial.
The Milram rider will be certain to face attacks on Wednesday's mountainous 185.9km stage from La Vall d'En Bas to La Seu d'Urgell.
Luxembourg's Andy Schleck, last year's Tour de France runner-up, did not start Tuesday's race due to an upset stomach.
The Tour of Catalunya finishes in Montmelo on Sunday.

Fabian Cancellara Dominantniju predstavu jednog bicikliste odavno nisam gledao.
